Trip West -Petrified Forest & Painted Desert

On our trip to the Petrified Forest we stopped at a rock shop and we found Wild Bill the Fossilized Alligator from Charlotte County, Florida.  What a surprise so far from home.  I wonder why Wild Bill is not in Florida??
We arrived at the Petrified Forest and began our tour.

Linda caught me looking a the map and brochure at the Long Logs.

The next three pictures are of the Agate Bridge which is a petrified tree.  At one time it did not have any supports below it, but were added to maintain it.  The brochure says that if it was discovered today, supports would not be placed and just let nature take its course.

Historic Route 66 crossed the national park and the old car and the grill work make its crossing.

If you look closely you can see some of the marking listed above on the rocks in the next three pictures.

Beautiful shots of the Painted Desert.

This was our campsite in Fool Hollow Lake campground.  I did finally get to wash my truck and it looks better than the pics do.

As I post this we are at the Grand Canyon tonight and tomorrow.  We went to the canyon for the sunset and will go tomorrow for the sunrise.  Will post pics later.  We are have a great time. Keeping in touch with family and friends.  I know the pics don't do justice to what we are seeing, but hope that you all are enjoying.
