Trip West - OK, TX & NM

Since the last time I posted anything we have moved from Burns Run West in OK (5/11-12), to Lakeside Campground in TX (5/13), to Brantley Lake S.P. in NM(5/14-15) to Rockhound S.P. in NM(5/16-17).  We will be leaving here heading on to Arizona and the Grand Canyon.

We are having a wonderful trip and time seeing new country.  The travel has been very good.  Came through the west Texas oil fields (boy did the truck and camper get dirty, they will need a wash soon).  We also traveled through New Mexico oil fields too.  I  will post some pics and try to let you know what they are about.

This is our camping spite at Burns Run West near Cartwright, OK.  This campground is nice and shady. Linda fixed us scrambled eggs w/cheese and sausages for breakfast. We went into Denison Texas (which was just a short trip over the dam). We did some looking around at a Goodwill and Salvation Army stores. Tom got an oil change in his truck, we had lunch and the Lindas did laundry (getting short on clothes).
This is one of the campsites at Hord's Creek Lake (Lakeside Campground) near Coleman Texas.  The lake is so low on water that not many people come to this camping area.
Linda & Linda Hodges walking Penny (Linda & Tom's beagle).
A picture of the dam at Hord's Creek Lake.
Cactus plants near the road as we were leaving the next morning.  Later in the day they are at full blooms.
The next three pictures are of the deer we saw as we were leaving Lakeside campground.

As we were nearing Sweetwater, TX we came upon a very big wind turbine farm.  There were hundreds of them.
The oil is still being pumped in Texas and New Mexico.

We stopped for lunch outside of Eunice, NM at a roadside park.  The wind was blowing and it was still very overcast from the rain, we had to break out the jeans.  It got very cool.
We stayed for two days at Brantley Lake Campground near Carlsbad, NM.
This is the path that goes out to the lake.
Looking back at the campsites from the lake.
 Cactus are every where.
 Brantley Lake
More wind turbines in Texas.  Very impressive site.
 Oil rig in New Mexico.
I will just let you know that the Carlsbad Caverns are worth the trip, and we haven't gotten to the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone or Mt Rushmore yet.  I don't believe I have the words to describe the caverns and the pics will not do them justice.  You have to see the to believe it.  As with all of God's creation He knew what He was doing.  It is truly amazing.  I will do another post of the cavern pics.
