Trip West - Ar & OK

Well it looks like my pictures got out of order so I will try to let you know what is going on here.  We left Monroe, La on Tuesday 05/08.  Linda and I felt like Willie Nelson "We're on the road again".  The part for the truck arrived on Tues morning and we left Monroe at 10:22am for Arkansas. We arrived at Tompkins Bend Rec Area around 4pm.  We stopped on the way for lunch, Linda having peanut butter & jelly sandwich and I had a peanut butter & banana sandwich.  We ate them in the camper.
A magnolia blossom in Hot Springs, Ar.  On Wed May 9 we all went Hot Springs, Ar and looked around.
Linda in front of a hot spring at Hot Springs National Park.  The water is a warm 143 degrees.

Linda Hodges, Linda and I in from of the springs.
Campsite at Tompkins Bend Rec area.  Very nice campsites, except no water.
Our sign in from of the camper.
 A view of Lake Quachita ( Wah-she-tah)

Beautiful morning over the lake at Tompkins Bend

 Arlington Hotel in Hot Springs.

 Old building in Hot Springs

 Another magnolia blossom.
We toured one of the old bathhouses that Hot Springs was famous far.  This is one of the therapeutic rooms that patients were treated for ailments at the bathhouses.

 Our camper at Tompkins Bend
 One of the tubs.
Main area on the men's side of the bathhouse.
Stained glass ceiling at the bathhouse.
After lunch at the laundry mat while waiting for the laundry to finish we stopped at Burl's to look around. While there we bought cane syrup, some beef jerky and one huge cinnamon bun for breakfast.
 The front of Burl's.
 I'm in the jailhouse now!
Linda on the front porch waiting for the train.
Back at the camp and not a bad fire for an amateur.
We are really enjoying our camping trip.
On Thursday May 10 we left Tompkins Bend and went to Crater of Diamonds SP near Murfreesboro, Ar. We went to mine diamonds later that day.  This is Linda looking for the big one, but alas none of us found one.
This is the diamond crater fields.  A lot of diamonds have been found here, but we did not find any.  We had a good time anyhow.

This in the Amish Bread that Anntia Storrie gave to take on the trip.  It is delicious!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Linda fixing supper.  We are at Burns Run West near Coleman, Ok. We arrive here around 1pm May 11th and will be leaving on 05/13.
It was raining outside so this is our first guest for supper in our camper, Linda & Tom Hodges who are traveling with us out west.
I will sign off for now and will be back later for more.
