Trip West - Moab, UT

We left Hurricane, Utah Tuesday May 29 and traveled to Moab, Utah.  We passed through some beautiful scenery.  We saw snow on Mt. Belknap (elev 12,199') off I-70.  We crossed two summits on I-70 at 7,886' & 7,270'.
We stopped for lunch at a roadside view.
This is a view from the edge of the cliff where we were having our lunch. Two guy from Ontario, Canada hit a golf ball off the cliff next to us.
This is about as close as I will get to the edge, it was a beautiful sight.

On Wed May 30 we went to Arches National Park.  This park  has beautiful and interesting shapes and colors also.  We drove through part of it and stopped at a few view points.

This shape is know as the 'organ'.
This is the 'three gossips'.

This is the 'balanced rock'.

The next three pics are my attempt to hold the balanced rock in my hands, but did make it but fun trying.

The next two pics are the ' parade of elephants'.

 This is the 'North Window.\'.

 This is the 'South Window'.
I thought these rocks looked a little like 'Jaba the Hut' from Star Wars????

 This is the 'Turret Arch'.
 North Window & South Window.

A photogenic ground hog.  It just looked around while having it's picture taken.

This is the 'Delicate Arch'.  The only way to get close to it is a 1.5 mile hike and by this time of the day hiking was out.
On Thursday May 31 Tom Hodges, Linda & I went rafting on the Colorado River.  We took a half day rafting tour, which was a mild one.  It actually was a little too mild, but was fun never the less. We enjoyed being on the water.  Saw some good views from the river.  We have already talked of doing more rafting up around Yellowstone area.  Having a great time.  We appreciate those who have called from home to check on us.  We are outside Salt Lake City today and will be going on to Yellowstone tomorrow.  Will post more later.  Thanks for keeping up with us, it has been an adventure.
