Trip West - Henry Lake SP & Mesa Falls

When we arrived at Henry's Lake State Park in Island Park, Idaho (which is 14 miles from the west entrance to Yellowstone National Park, it was an impressive view. There were snow covered mountains all around us, a beautiful lake at the park.

Below is the campsite.  They are very nice. It was windy when we arrive and turned cold later in the evening.

A view of the lake and the mountains.

After we got set up and lunch, we decided to take the Mesa Falls Scenic Highway and view the falls.  At the Upper Mesa Falls is the Inn that was built back in the 1930's.  The two guys below are on the wall inside.

This is the upper Mesa Falls.

This is the Lower Mesa Falls.  While we were there we talked to three young guys who were waiting on a photographer to arrive. They were going to kayah  the lower falls.  We wanted to see it but did not have the time to stay and wait.

After visiting the falls we went to Big Springs where Henry's Fork of the Snake River begins.  Actually the springs was not that impressive, but Linda put her foot in the 52 degrees water and sure enough it was cold.
These guys didn't seem to mind the cold water.  After this we drove back to the campsite.  It was a very good first day in the Yellowstone area.  More to come.
